Our focus is to efficiently develop concise, effective source material that is presented within a usable design. With the advent of modern computing, online requirements (Web, WinHelp), and rapid technology changes it has been necessary to develop expertise beyond straight-forward "source material development". For example an understanding of design (i.e. Online vs. Book, Web vs. WinHelp, etc.) is an essential prerequisite to cost effective source material development. The following is a list of services that Text And Graphics Express offers. Each area of expertise is available as needed.
Source Material Development
includes documentation, training, and technical content. Text And
Graphics Express specializes in developing precise, effective
content that is used (within a good design) to efficiently
deliver "just the right amount" of user friendly
information necessary to accomplish the task at hand. This
approach avoids bloated and duplicated source material, eases
maintenance, and contributes to a timely delivery of project
goals.
Design and
Design Implementation services are key to efficient content
development, maintainability, user friendliness, and successful
deployment in the customer environment. Text And Graphics Express
specializes in new designs and adapting existing designs to use
industry standard tools (FrontPage, Word, RoboHelp, Frame) and
technologies (Web, WinHelp, PDF, SGML) on multiple platforms
(Windows/NT, Unix) to present information. This expertise is used
ensure the success of existing designs or to create new designs
that will continue to run in the rapidly changing (new operating
systems and tools) computing environment.
Engineering
services support design implementation and content
development. Modern business environments often include Web
infrastructure (HTML, Javascript, Java, C++, ActiveX, Plugins),
Database systems (Oracle, Sybase, Informix), hardware (Windows
95/NT, Unix, networking, security), and tools (Internet Explorer,
Navigator, Word, Excel, FrontPage, Frame, PDF viewers) to name a
few. Text And Graphics Express offers engineering services that
can bridge the gap between the various components to ensure a
successful design implementation. In addition, a technical
understanding of the product being documented leads to more
accurate content.
Research/Training
into new designs, content development tools,
maintenance/deployment methodologies, and effective information
presentation products is the "fun" part of the work
that is performed behind the scenes. Text And Graphics Express
maintains equipment that is running the latest operating systems,
networks, databases, web servers, and tools. This environment is
used to research, review, and experiment with the latest tools
and to test designs. Research results and custom training on
tools, design choices, content development techniques, and
development methodologies is available in written and/or class
room training form.
Post Project
Support is not the highest priority when a new project is
started, but after a project is handed off, it often useful to
retain a relationship with Text And Graphics Express so that
questions, training, source material updates, and even design
modifications (for new tools) can be applied.
Usability/Reviews
(beyond normal peer review) can be orchestrated to provide
additional content terminology and effectiveness review outside
of the direct project participants. Text And Graphics Express
maintains contacts with a range of professionals that have
various educational, business, and technical backgrounds that are
willing to participate in informal (review written material) and
formal (perform tasks to measure effectiveness) .
